Brian May and 'The Dream' Stratocaster

You're right - it's not looking the right colour under those lights - but Brian will tone up when he gets some fresh air...

Brian's really a very nice guy and we're really talking about the dream Stratocaster - man those lights made the guitar look VERY pink - but it's more like the colour in Steve Vai's picture.

Awesome John just LOVED pink - and I know he liked this picture - it's about as 'pink' as you can get - awesome really...

Yes that really IS Brian May having a play of the Fender DREAM Stratocaster. That's a really good example of how musicians were drawn to the unique guitar that the Fender dream really is. Made for a very good player - 'Awesome John' (Asim Can Gunduz) at incredible cost to Fender Musical Instruments to the exact specifications that Asim wanted. Asim did tell me some of the conversations about the design of the guitar and how it ended up as the specific design eventually. He told me that Fender specified single coil pickups, but Asim said that he 'needed' buckers, so the guitar ended up with Lace sensors, which in retrospect were a good choice.

Brian May I believe saw this guitar in Las Vegas area and took a little time to consider the guitar as a purchase (it was rumored). All I have is this image which other than a bit of colour variation remains exactly as taken at the time. Ultimately Brian did not buy it - Hey Brian if you read this contact me and I would love to know the back story...
